Senior Program Officer-OVC – Katsina

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and coordinate the implementation of OVC program activities in line with national guidelines. Interfacing with GON, USG, and CBO programs to facilitate synergies and initiatives to improve the package of care and support services.
  • Provide technical and monitoring support to OVC regional offices for optimal service provision.
  • Strengthen linkages between CBOs and state and LGA structures for improved coordination of OVC service delivery planning and implementation at the community level. 
  • Ensures and established OVC program goals and objectives and planned outputs and outcomes, and that these results are documented. 
  • Support collaborative solutions and family centered approaches.
  • Strategically support and coordinate stakeholders’ response to OVC
  • Develop work plans for the program and coordinate the implementation and reporting on all activities; receive and review monthly programmatic performance reports of CBOs from state offices.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with the other OVC program staffs. Provides technical assistance as a base for building/maintaining/expanding a sustainable country program and ensure that the most updated information regarding OVC programming is shared via the designated mechanisms, databases, the central server, monthly quarterly reports.
  • Conduct training and learning sessions on quality improvement for OVC program implementation.
  • Coordinate and support OVC review meetings with involvement of state and local government representatives
  • Conduct routine advocacy visits to supported health facilities and community to strengthen collaboration of OVC program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Academic training

Must possess a bachelor’s degree in medicine, nursing or Social Works. Master’s level/Postgraduate qualification in Social works or a relevant field is an added advantage.

Description and objectives

Under the supervision of the Director of Prevention Care and Treatment Department and the Treatment Lead, he/ she will ensure high-quality HIV and TB services in line with the 95-95-95 UNAIDS goal. She/He will provide technical expertise in implementing high-impact interventions to ensure quality service delivery across all program areas. She/He will coordinate the day-to-day implementation of all ART services in the assigned health facility and guide program implementation according to the National Treatment Guidelines.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise treatment activities while ensuring that evidence-based, high-impact, cost-effective interventions to prevention care and treatment activities across all thematic areas (Pharmacy, Adult ART, NCD, Pediatric and Adolescent HIV and TB-HIV) services, including but not limited to TB and HIV prevention services, case finding, contact tracing, treatment, and integration of TB, HIV and NCD services.
  • Carry out close coordination, collaboration, advocacy, alignment, and integration to improve services.
  • Provide technical guidance to healthcare providers to render effective and efficient quality of care to People Living with HIV (PLHIV) across all the treatment areas.
  • Support staff stationed in facilities (ESM leads) who offer mentorship to healthcare providers to improve and maintain the standard of care through ongoing performance assessment and feedback.
  • Provide technical guidance for effective and efficient TB, HIV and NCD prevention and treatment services.
  • Ensure that routine mentorship is offered to healthcare providers and volunteers to build their capacity to make effective referrals and linkages.

Position Overview

S/He will provide technical support and oversight for the implementation of Strategic Information activities in the organization to ensure program targets are met.  Implement and ensure data quality and best practices in data management processes from data collection, collation, reporting and use at different levels. Ensure the use of standard tools and indicators required in the program. Promote health system strengthening activities at all levels. Collaborate with the Government of Nigeria agencies to conduct monitoring and evaluation activities.

Responsibilities:

Job Duties and Responsibilities-He/She will:

  • Undergo and complete cancer prevention training on the job and will maintain their certification throughout the duration of the position.
  • Gently communicate with vulnerable patients about the pathogenesis of human papillomavirus (HPV), the risk of developing anal cancer, and the options for prevention and treatment procedures.
  • Assess patients for anal cancer by conducting anal swabbing, digital anal rectal examination, and high-resolution anoscopy (HRA)-directed biopsy sampling for histology diagnosis.
  • Document cases in the logbook on REDCap including notes about the procedure and impressions.
  • Work with pathology and communicate histological findings and implications of a high-grade precancer (HSIL) diagnosis as well as discuss the treatment plan with the patient.
  • Treat patients for high-grade precancerous lesions (HSIL) using hyfrecation/electrocautery for ablation. Prescribe medications as indicated.
  • Evaluate treatment progress, assess the health and well-being of the patient, and document findings.
  • Refer patients for further care for any dysplasia that cannot be addressed at the clinic level and any suspected cases of cancer.
  • Encourage participants to return for annual anal cancer screening.
  • Engage with the study and implementation science teams to improve the development of the program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must possess a degree in Medical Sciences (MBBS or equivalent). Postgraduate qualification/Masters level training in Public Health or Epidemiology is an advantage.
  • Must be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, and possess a current medical practice license
  • Previous experience in HIV-related, implementation science, or cancer research is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of current trends and normative guidance in HIV or cancer clinical care and service delivery amongst vulnerable population will be an advantage

Description and objectives:

IHVN is seeking a dedicated and passionate Data Officer to join our team and play a crucial role in a groundbreaking project focused on improving HIV care and prevention among key populations through digital health interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with healthcare providers, key population civil society organization, and Study and Data Coordinator to ensure the quality of study data. The candidate will be responsible for managing study data collection forms and databases, data entry of paper-based clinical forms into the REDCap study database, and provide trouble-shooting support for the digital health app.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the day-to-day coordination and management of study-related data and digital health app functioning at the site level.
  2. Check for completeness in source documents and consistency between paper-based registers and the REDCap database.
  3. Carry out daily manual data checks to verify completeness check for data errors against paper forms.
  4. Extract data from participant electronic health records or tablet-based data to REDCap.
  5. Ensure completeness, validity, consistency, timeliness, and accuracy of electronic health record data and/or tablet-based data.
  6. Evaluate databases and check for inconsistencies, duplicates, or missing data on a weekly basis.
  7. Meet monthly with the study statistician to review data and address any issues with data quality, merges, and freezes.
  8. Train healthcare staff and key population participants on the use of the digital health app, with support from the Study and Data Coordinator.
  9. Ensure that project activities are executed in compliance with ethical guidelines and regulations.
  10. Work with the digital health app team to troubleshoot issues.
  11. Collaborate with the Study and Data Coordinator and other study team members to collect, manage, and analyze project data.
  12. Participate in team meetings and provide input on project data.
  13. Participate in the review of standard operating procedures (SOPs) established for data management.
  14. Lead data collection activities, such as participant enrolment and questionnaires as needed.
